Collegiate Offshore Sailing Circuit
Type: Consultation
Fourth Cape has supported the US Collegiate Offshore Sailing Circuit ‘COSC’ in the setup and boat procurement phases of the program. With the COSC utilising the popular Beneteau Figaro 2 boat, Fourth Capes extensive experience of these race boats from a decade of operating them with The Offshore Academy provided pivotal from locating the boats through to the packing and shipping to the US. The mission of COSC is to teach fundamental offshore seamanship to a large number of college students of all socioeconomic backgrounds to expand the American pool of offshore capable mariners. The program provides an option to those college sailors wishing to expand their skill-sets beyond dinghy sailing and to those who have physically outgrown dinghies. COSC is structured to support the professional training offered by maritime & service academies, and those colleges wishing to develop lifelong corinthian sailors. Utilising one-design, offshore-capable fleets (of boats of manageable size). These fleets can train among themselves or aggregate by training deliveries for one-design, true offshore, distance and overnight events.
