Ella Newman

Ella is an Oceanography Master’s student at the University of Southampton, as well as a keen sailor, competing in both team racing at university and yacht racing in the Solent. As part of the Southampton University Sailing Club (SUSC), she has taken on multiple leadership roles – from Events Secretary, where she organised multiple team racing events like the Wessex Winter Warmer and launched the Southampton Summer Sizzler; to Open Sailing Captain, running inclusive biweekly sessions for sailors of all levels. As Environmental Secretary, she also led SUSC’s involvement in the Green Blue University Challenge, promoting sustainable practices in sailing.
